The India vs Sri Lanka final of the Asia Cup had all the potential of being a nail-biting contest, but India was foxed by the new kid on the block Ajanta Mendis. I had written in my previous post that he would hold the key to decide the fate of the match. As predicted Mendis destroyed the famed Indian batting order by bagging six wickets. The finalist's curse seems to be working as Dhoni is losing the finals, starting with the IPL finals, Kitply cup in Bangladesh, and the Asia Cup finals in Karachi.

Earlier Jayasurya milked the Indian bowling attack to script his 27th ODI century. Sehwag, Ojha, and Rohit Sharma bowled well to restrict the Lankans to below 300. Sehwag provided a swashbuckling start and scored 6o runs in no time, once India lost his wicket it was a procession to the dressing room as wickets fell in quick succession.

All said and done India was truly outplayed by Sri Lanka.
