India Victorious

All talk about luck and pitch and swing and spin went for a toss as India comprehensively defeated Australia by 172 runs in the Nagpur Test to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-0.

Kumble left the team at the end of the previous match. Dada had announced his retirement at the beginning of the series.

It was ironic that Sourav Ganguly was dismissed for a duck in his last Test innings. A poster by a fan said it all-"Even the great Don Bradman was dismissed for a duck in his last Test innings." Dhoni handed the captain's cap to Ganguly in the last hour of proceedings; it was fun to see the Tiger lead his band again. Dhoni should be commended for his sharp thinking; asking Ganguly to control proceedings and then inviting Kumble to accept the trophy. His thinking and maturity is way ahead of his years. The future of the Indian cricket team is in safe hands.

My biggest worry is Dravid's miserable form. Unless he gets some runs there is no point in continuing to retain him in the team. Rather it would be better for Dravid to take a break go back to the Ranji Trophy get some runs and stage a comeback like Dada did; or he can simply call it a day!

Three more days for the series against England to start, it would be interesting to see if Sreesanth will get a chance; after the slapping incident with Harbhajan he seems to have disappeared.

If India can put up a spirited performance against England it will do a world of good to the team and its supporters!
